This was summer of 2024. Me and my best friend Joe were in the North Beach/Chesapeake Beach area for the few days leading up to and including the 4th of July. The night of the 2nd, we decided to take a walk and smoke a blunt we had been saving. We were both 21 years old at the time and going into our Junior Year of college. I say that so you understand that we were dumb and at that age were you feel invincible.
As we were approaching the Wetlands Overlook Park, walking along the side of the road, we both caught sight of an odd silhouette. At first we both were freaked out because we thought it must be a kid who was lost and scared in the dark. We both started jogging towards the figure and as we got closer (we had been walking for a while and our eyes were adjusted to the dark) we both stopped. We were probably 8 feet from the figure and now could make out details. It was probably 3-3.5 ft tall and was dark green. The face resembled a toad but it almost appeared like it had a small elephant trunk in place of the nose. the arms were lanky, with the knuckles almost dragging on the floor, and the hands each had 3 fingers that ended in claws. The legs were short and stumpy. The thing had ears like a bat, coned and pointed, but they were much larger than a bats ears. Its eyes were large and they glowed a super bright white. We stood staring at the thing for a good 10 seconds before it put its hands on the ground and sprung off, and with two big jumps it disappeared into the marsh.
I remember that much because it was so odd and otherworldly that I took in every detail. I know how so crazy this sounds and so I have only ever told close family and friends. The reason I am writing this now, is that my fiancée and I are moving to North Beach in a few months and I had to know if anyone has seen thing. I know what I saw.
